DPO UPDATE #4- All's well!
So I get to the office this morning, there's an email from Ipower that stuff's been done on my help ticket. (Of course, I haven't got my Ipower password here at work, so I can't go view the ticket.) Don't really need to check the ticket though, as a quick spin by DPO's forum reveals that everything's back up and running. I imagine my theory was right and the database wasn't talking to the forum software, so the forum software was busy going "WTF, mate?!"

DPO UPDATE #3
So apparently we're really unlucky or something; the database connection is still busted.

Stephanie Amahira: Doing alright, technical fiascos aside
[name removed]: How can I help you today?
Stephanie Amahira: Since the power outage and resulting mess on the 15th, my site's forums are still giving me errors. I was told yesterday by tech support that the database connection problem was still being worked on and would probably be resolved within 2-3 hours. 24 hours later.... I'm still getting the same error
[name removed]: Could you please provide me the exact URL of the page where you have received the error message?
Stephanie Amahira: [link]
Stephanie Amahira: The error it's giving me seems to be the one I usually get when the database connection is busted
[name removed]: May I place you on hold while I review your account and get back to you within 2 or 3 minutes?
Stephanie Amahira: Sure thing
[name removed]: Thank you for holding.
[name removed]: I'm sorry, in order to assist you, I am going to have to ask a member of our team who specializes in this issue to take care of this for you.
Stephanie Amahira: Alright; any estimate how long it will take?
[name removed]: It will take 24 - 48 hours to resolve your ticket.
Stephanie Amahira: Okay- I'll just have to keep my forum users appraised of the situation then. Thanks

Either tonight or tomorrow I'll bug my tech guy and see if he can find the problem. I'm assuming it's a problem on Ipower's end though, because I haven't touched the forum's backend or adjusted the code, and the error it's giving me tends to be the one that comes up when the forum can't connect to the database for some reason.

DPO UPDATE #2
So it's been 8-12 hours or something, and we're still having issues with the forum. Just got off the horn to Ipower's tech support about it:

[name removed]: Hi Stephanie. My name is [name removed], how are you today?
Stephanie Amahira: Just adding to your guys' workload I'm sure you've had to deal with tons of this today, but since my site came up, my forums are giving me errors
Stephanie Amahira: And the notice about the whole power supply fiasco doesn't really tell me if my site is still being affected or what
[name removed]: I am really sorry, we are still experiencing issue on some of the hardware devices. We haven't lost any data's. Once the issue is resoled, we'll restore the data's. It may need two or three more hours.
Stephanie Amahira: Ah, alright. I just wasn't sure if I needed to start pestering my tech guy yet or not
[name removed]: Sorry for the typo* resolved.
[name removed]: We'll update our Web site with the information when the issue is resolved.
Stephanie Amahira: Much appreciated. Thanks for clearing that up for me
[name removed]: Is there anything else I can assist you with today?
Stephanie Amahira: Nah, that's pretty much it; and I'm sure you guys have plenty other folks to deal with!
[name removed]: Thank you for chatting with us. Please feel free to contact us at any time. We are available 24x7.

So apparently we're one of the lucky few that's on hardware that was hit particularly bad yesterday. They keep saying no data's lost (and I have backups anyway), so still no cause for panic; just annoyance!

DPO UPDATE
According to Ipower:

6:00pm EDT: The vast majority of customer sites are currently viewable, and all customers sites should be viewable shortly. In an effort to ensure that no data is lost, you and your visitors will not be able to edit your site (including dynamic content) for an additional 8-12 hours. We deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause you.

Update: We're still in the process of bringing up servers. No data has been lost; if a file appears to be missing, it is only a temporary issue. Again, we are truly sorry for any inconvenience this power supply issue may have caused you.

I'm going to hazard that this is the source of the current set of errors on the forums. Gonna check with my techie guy tonight anyway, but still no cause for panic.

First, since the DPO site and stuff is down at the moment, it's nothing serious. Here's the report from the webhost:

We experienced a power supply issue at one of our data centers, which caused the ipower.com site, as well as some of our customer sites, to be offline for a brief period of time. We are currently in the process of bringing the servers back up, and all services should be restored momentarily.

We apologize for any inconvenience that may have caused you. We realize that you depend on us to provide you with a reliable hosting solution, and we take that responsibility very seriously.

So I imagine we'll be back up and running before too much longer.

Second, alas, while the potential buyer of my Salvage Dragon sculpture was willing to pay the price I was asking for it, it turns out that they didn't have room to display it either! So I'm still trying to figure out what to do with it!

My muse seems to have run away in terror or something. Rock Opera currently is about half a page (handwritten, no less!) in my notebook after a couple of months of trying to prod words onto the page. Likewise, After the Apocalypse has run into a roadblock, albeit a somewhat milder one (I hope!) I blame the upcoming wedding; with a month left until my sister ~OneAmahira gets married, it's getting a little nuts. Even moreso since I've been tagged to make the cake topper!

So, movies. I've been in theaters this year more than I have last year, having seen Star Trek (3 times...) and Up. Trek was a lot of fun, even to someone that can count the number of episodes they've seen on one hand with fingers to spare. (That is, me.) I look forward to an eventual sequel, not to mention a Trek marathon with a friend who is more versed in the entire franchise. Up I had my doubts about... for about the first 30 seconds. It's a wonderful film in my opinion, both as generally light fluffy kids entertainment and on a much deeper level. I got misty-eyed twice, and anyone that's seen it already knows exactly what two scenes I'm talking about!

Probably gonna go see Transformers with my future brother-in-law in the next two or three weeks. Not because I'm expecting anything particularly deep or satisfying on a film snob level; I want to see giant robots beating the crap out of one another and causing massive collateral damage and EXPLOSIONS in the process
